My contact form is at the bottom of this page.

Before using it please take a moment to read through this page.

It contains information about what details you could consider including in your message as well as specifics on the audio file formats I need in certain scenarios.

Useful info

If you are contacting me about a recording or mixing job, then please include as much of the information listed below as possible. It will help me get started sooner and also ensure that I better understand what results you are aiming for.

Mixing

If you are considering hiring me to mix one or several songs, then please attach some audio file if available. This is mainly so that I will have a better understanding of your song or song idea. It can either be a recorded demo, individually recorded audio stems/tracks or something else entirely.

Please also consider and include your answers to the following questions:

  1. Besides mixing, do you also need help with recording?
    — If you live in or able to travel to Estonia, Latvia or Finland, then I'll most likely be able to help you record.
    — If not, then I'll try to help you with organizing local recording services instead.
  2. What other song does your own song remind you of? (also known as a reference song)
    — Alternatively, what reference song do you think your song could end up sounding like?
  3. If you had to name some things you really like about your reference song, what would they be?
  4. Do you have a separate mastering engineer in mind for your song?
    — If the answer is no, then I can also offer to do the mastering myself.
  5. Where are you planning to release your song?
    - Different online platforms expect different volume levels (measured using a standard called "LUFS").
  6. Are you planning to release the finished song on streaming services?
    — If so, then do you need my help with this?
  7. Do you know how to use a DAW or audio recording software?
    — It's completely fine if you don't. I only ask so that I know how much lingo I can use :)

Recording

Need help with recording your music? If so, then I'd be very happy offer my help.

If interested, then here are a couple questions you could consider:

  1. How many songs do you wish to record?
  2. How many musicians will need to be recorded togehter at the same time?
    - An example answer could be: a drummer, a guitarist, a bass player, a pianist and a singer.
  3. If you can, then please list all the instruments you wish to record.
    - This doesn't need to be a comprehensive list and we can still make changes on the fly.
  4. Do you or one of your band mates have some interesting space available that may serve as an cool venue for recording?
    - I can also offer to organize this, but it is one way to lower the overall cost of recording.
    - My recording setup is relatively portable, so I can transport it to just about anywhere.
  5. Have you already settled on a date and time when all musicians are available to record?

Session drumming

So that I can deliver you the best drumming performance and recording possible, it would be amazing if you could include the following information is your message.

  1. Do you have a specific drum sound in mind?
    — If so then use your own words and don't worry too much about being very precise.
    — Alternatively, try to think of a reference song with a drum sound that you really like.
  2. Do you have any preferences about the types or number of microphones used?
    — I list the types of microphones that I normally use on my SERVICES page.
    — Perhaps you prefer to mix with some mics excluded like hi-hat or snare?
  3. How "busy/active" should the drumming be?
    — It's also totally fine if you don't have any concrete ideas. In that case I'll rely on my own experience and judgement.
  4. Are there any specific sections where you prefer that the drums are silent?

Audio file formats

The contact form below supports adding very large audio files. I've made this option available so that you don't have to worry about how to share your music with me.

I only accept certain audio file formats. More details in this table:

File format Description Suitable for
WAV Uncompressed high-quality audio (large file size) I need this file type for mixing jobs, preferably in at least 24-bit and 48 KHz.
FLAC Lossless compressed audio (high quality, smaller than WAV) Acceptable for uploading a song to streaming services (although WAV is usually preferable for this).
MP3 Common compressed audio format (widely supported) Adequate for song previews and drum tracking/recording
Ogg Vorbis Open-source compressed format (good quality, smaller size) Adequate for song previews and drum tracking/recording
AAC Advanced Audio Coding (used by Apple and others, better than MP3 at similar bitrates) Adequate for song previews and drum tracking/recording
M4A Audio-only version of MP4 (typically contains AAC or ALAC audio) Adequate for song previews and drum tracking/recording
